HEALTH & FITNESS (www.rishifitness.com)

- HEALTH IS WEALTH -

Making exercise a habit is one of the best things you can do to keep working out no matter how lazy or unmotivated you become. If you don’t form a habit, it is way too tempting to slack off. One day off turns into two. Two turns into three and the next thing you know, you haven’t exercised in months and worse – in years.
It’s too easy to tell yourself you will start tomorrow or next week etc. Forming a habit makes it a part of your daily routine. It becomes as common as brushing your teeth. There are times when my motivation is low and I would rather do anything besides exercise. However, 90% of the time, I do it anyway.
That is mainly because exercise is just part of what I do now. My usual thought is, “I have to get my workout done.” That is my current top tip for fitness.

How You Can Start Your Exercise Habit -
I know everyone is different and some people loathe exercise. However, if you are desperate and truly want to get into the exercise habit, there are some things you may want to consider:
Stop the excuses – You don’t need a gym membership, you don’t need fancy equipment, and you have the time (you just need to fit it in just like everything else.)
Pick something you like – If working out at home is boring, exercise in a park. Take classes in something fun (Gym, tennis, martial arts, dancing, etc.)
Start easy – Walk 30 minutes a day but stick to it.
Whatever you choose, do it for 30 days straight. This will form a habit and you will give yourself a chance to reap the benefits of regular exercise such as feeling good physically, being more alert, and even weight loss.

Don’t Ruin Your Progress by Eating the Wrong Foods -

The one thing I’ve learned about trying to get into shape is that food will make or break your progress. It doesn’t seem that way when you are exercising almost everyday and feeling good physically, however, the pounds will not drop if you don’t change your eating habits. Trust me when I say, food is the BIGGEST obstacle for me in terms of shaping up.

1. Don’t drink your calories. Don’t buy soda and fruit juices. Remember the extra calories in fancy coffees and alcoholic beverages. When in doubt, drink water, plain coffee or tea.

2. Stop all fast food. If you are in a pinch and must eat fast food, check for their healthy alternatives. A lot of fast food places are starting to keep the health conscious individuals in mind with more salads and grilled items.

4. Remove the junk foods already in your fridge and cabinets. If you live with other people, section off the fridge and cabinets for your healthy food.
